What's this? This feeling....
Of warmth?
My chest rising and falling, in short shallow breaths.
I can hear my heart beat... a slow but steady rythem.
I feel my life flowing through me.

Slowly, my eyes flutter and open, only to be blinded by a flood of light.
I raise my arm to sheild my burning eyes.
My arms are covered in white bandages.....sore and throbbing.
The smell of blood and alcohol fill my nose as I bring my sore arm to rest on my forehead.
My other arm is wrapped around something.... someone.

I look and see him.
Someone close... that I cared for.
Blinded my my own pain, I forgot those that did care.
I swallow and rasp out his name.
He looks up, eyes red and stained with tears.
The tears well up in his eyes again.
"I'm sorry.... I'm sorry that I didn't hear you....."

I'm willing to try again.
I'm saying goodbye to the things that I've done wrong.
What I've become.
I'll be someone different, starting over and trying again.
Starting today.
Starting now.
I'm sorry.
The calm feeling peace wash over me.
Even if it's just for a moment.
I feel...
At ease.
